I find myself drawn to divergent styles in painting. I explore detail and realism with watercolor and graphite, but I also enjoy the freedom associated with abstract paintings.
I was originally trained as a veterinarian, but found myself unable to work in that field after a severe and protracted illness. Although my struggles have been difficult, I am thankful to have had such a strong attraction to art in addition to science. I have a passion for painting animals and I believe that my training as a veterinarian helps me capture the essence of each animal I paint.
I am honored to have my artwork featured on the cover of 2 journals, the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Journal of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association. My paintings have also been chosen for multiple juried art exhibitions, including shows with the Watercolor Society of North Carolina and the Durham Art Guild.
